Oxidized Bitumen 115/15, Complete Guide for Waterproofing & Pipe Coating
Oxidized Bitumen 115/15 is an oxidized (blown) bitumen grade. It has a softening point of 110–120°C and a penetration of 10–20 dmm. It is made by blowing air into hot bitumen. This process makes the bitumen harder, thicker, and better for waterproofing and industrial use.
Due to its outstanding thermal stability, excellent adhesion, and superior waterproofing properties, Bitumen 115/15 is widely used in expansion joints, pipe coatings, roofing systems, industrial flooring, corrosion protection, waterproof membranes, and chemical-resistant applications.
We supply premium-quality Bitumen 115/15 produced under strict quality control standards. Our products comply with international specifications and are exported worldwide with reliable packaging and prompt delivery.
What is Oxidized Bitumen 115/15?
Oxidized Bitumen 115/15 is an oxidized bitumen grade produced by passing hot air through penetration-grade bitumen under controlled temperature and pressure. This oxidation process increases the material's softening point while reducing penetration, resulting in a harder and more durable bitumen.
Compared to conventional penetration-grade bitumen, Oxidized Bitumen 115/15 offers:
- Higher resistance to deformation
- Excellent heat stability
- Superior waterproofing performance
- Outstanding chemical resistance
- Strong adhesion to metal and concrete
- Long service life under harsh environmental conditions
Its combination of hardness and flexibility makes it suitable for demanding industrial environments where conventional bitumen may fail.

Packing of Bitumen 115/15
Because Bitumen 115/15 is a very hard grade, it is usually packed in 25 kg packages. Smaller packages are easier to handle and melt than large blocks.
25 kg Carton Box
This is the most common packing. The cartons are placed on pallets, and a 20 ft container can hold up to 22.8 MT. Pallets are recommended to prevent the cartons from being damaged during transport.
Each carton contains either:
A non-stick liner that should be removed before melting, or
A plastic bag that can be placed directly into the melting kettle after removing the carton.
25 kg PP Bag
PP bags can be shipped on pallets or as loose cargo.
On pallets: up to 20 MT per 20 ft container.
Loose loading: up to 22 MT per 20 ft container.
The bags may contain either a plastic liner for direct melting or a non-stick liner that should be removed before use.
25 kg Mold Packing
This type uses a special mold to form the bitumen blocks. It is more expensive than other packing options, but the carton mold can be removed easily at the destination.
25 kg Polyamide Bag
Polyamide bags are heat-resistant and allow the hot bitumen to cool quickly. The bag is designed to be melted together with the bitumen, so it does not need to be removed before use.
25 kg Kraft Bag
Kraft bags are an environmentally friendly option. They have a special inner lining to prevent the bitumen from sticking. They can be shipped either on pallets or as loose cargo.
Drum Packing
Bitumen 115/15 can also be supplied in steel drums if required. However, this packing is generally not recommended because handling and melting are more difficult than with 25 kg packages.
